On the island of Corfu, a traditional drink called τσιτσιμπύρα (tsitsibira), a type of ginger beer, is made. Ginger beer is a tonic soft drink with out any preservatives which has an exotic space flavour (juice of lemon, natural lemon oil, rubbed tzintzer, grapes, water and sugar). The people of Corfu and the rest of the Ionian islands adopted the drink from the British, during the period of the United States of the Ionian Islands. So the people here enjoy tsitsibira from 1860 till today.
